Rodney Look, MD

Dr. Rodney Look has a fascinating background. Following college, he worked as an archaeologist in the Middle East and then served as a medical missionary in Nigeria, where he founded the Nigerian Prison Outreach program. After extensive travel, he met his wife, Adair, and they decided to pursue medical degrees together. After finishing a Harvard-affiliated residency training program at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Look came west to St. Helena Hospital where he appreciates the opportunity to spend quality time with each patient who enters the ER. Outside of work, Dr. Look has his hands full, literally, with three small children and a plethora of hobbies.

Gary Mishkin, MD
Emergency Physician


Dr. Mishkin has been an emergency physician at St. Helena Hospital for over 20 years. After training at UC Davis, he initially practiced as a family physician and surgeon and specialized in Emergency Medicine. He has received recognition for his work in emergency medicine from the American College of Emergency Physicians and the California Legislature. Dr. Mishkin enjoys practicing at St. Helena Hospital’s ER because it allows him to spend more time with his patients and provide comprehensive care. With his wife and two teenage boys, he enjoys traveling as well as countless sports and hobbies including underwater photography, backpacking, gardening, guitar and more. He can also cook 30-minute brownies in a mere 15 minutes!

Dennis W Whitfield, MD, FACEP
Board Certified Emergency Medicine


Dr. Dennis Whitfield has lived in the Napa Valley for over 20 years. Following graduation from the University of Texas and a residency program at Emory University, he worked in several hectic, trauma-level emergency departments and is now pleased to be part of the Emergency Department team at St. Helena Hospital. He takes pleasure in caring for his patients in a timely manner and having the opportunity for more in-depth discussions with his patients. Dr. Whitfield is interested in several areas of medicine, including traditional Tibetan medicine and serves on the Board of the Global Institute of Tibetan Medicine. When he is not working, Dr. Whitfield enjoys his family, gardening, books, world music, didgeridoo, yoga, pilates, and bicycling.
