Patient Referral
Patients may refer themselves for speech/language therapy; however, they will be responsible for the cost of their treatments. Insurance carriers will not pay for self referrals to speech therapy. Most insurance carriers will cover speech therapy services, but they must be referred through a physician.

Physician Referral
In order to refer a patient for speech therapy at St. Helena Hospital, physicians must write a prescription for speech therapy evaluation and treatment. If requested, speech pathologists will contact the physician after a patient's evaluation to discuss the findings and treatment options.
